Starting Pay: $22.10 to $27.62 DOE

 

Provides service to patients, families, and others with personal and environmental difficulties which interfere with obtaining maximum benefits from medical care. The Medical Social Worker assures that each patient is provided with the necessary care and services to attain or maintain the highest practical, physical, mental, spiritual, and psychosocial well-being. The Medical Social Worker is committed to the JRMC Mission and exhibits actions that embody JRMC’s values.

 

Parttime, benefited position working 48 hours per two week pay period. Days of work are Monday - Friday with variable hours from 8 am - 4:30 pm, Weekends as needed and on call as needed

 

Responsibilities

  • Provides appropriate social work care to all age groups (infants, pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics) and is in direct contact with others at all times.
  • Assess and assist in meeting the psychosocial and spiritual needs of each patient, family, and significant others as appropriate or necessary in coping with the effects of illness, disability, treatment, or hospital stay. The specific services include:
    • Individual, family, and group services designed to improve functioning and reduce the psychosocial and spiritual problems of patients.
    • Contribution to an environment designed to enhance positive self-image of patients and preserve their human dignity.
    • Provides work services to Home Health and Hospice clients, families, and significant others.
    • Advocate patient rights and self-determination.
    • Assist patients, families, and others as necessary or appropriate in finding and utilizing financial, legal, mental health, and other community resources.
    • Refer patients to appropriate and available community program and services as needed.
  • Participation in patient care management including the following:
    • Works with the multi-disciplinary team on treatment and discharge planning
    • Development and documentation of a plan of intervention and subsequent results.
    • Serves as a liaison between patients, families, and community agencies.
  • Maintains competency and social work license; attends educational programs as needed.
  • Maintains knowledge of public assistance programs, community resources, good interviewing techniques and counseling skills.
  • Maintains collaborative relationships with community partners.
  • Participates in any Performance Improvement of the Social Services Department.
  • Prepares statistical reports and special studies as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned or requested.

Qualifications

Current ND licensure in Social Work. Work requires a professional level of knowledge in Social Work which is acquired by completing a college bachelor’s degree program.

 

A minimum of 12 to 18 months of Social Service experience is required.

 

Punctual and regular attendance is an essential responsibility of each employee at JRMC. Employees are expected to report to work as scheduled, on time and prepared to start working. Employees are also expected to remain at work for their entire work schedule.
